Meet Ray.
This morning an old friend walked into The Bridge. I had not seen him for years. I didn't even recognize him until he was sitting in the altar area waiting for Coach Gray to pray with him after I finished the sermon.
I met Ray in High School. Ray was an athlete. Ray was ripped. He joined the basketball team and helped us to win many games and we share many good memories.
but...
Ray has had a rough life.
Ray came to my school to stay a few years with foster parents.
Ray has three bullet holes in his stomach (to my knowledge).
Ray told us that his mother recently got shot in the head.
Ray traveled down from St. Louis today because he felt God telling him to get around some people that could talk to Him about God.
Ray said that HE wanted to give his life to Jesus and that nobody was forcing Him too. He just had to.
Ray said that he had seen it all, done it all, and he knew it was time.
Today, Ray poured out his thoughts and heart to coach gray and to God.
AND Today, Ray repented and believed the gospel.
That is why tonight, I give glory to God. I give glory to God that calls the broken, the suffering, and the helpless and begins to heal their lives.
To God be all the glory.
